  Born in 1989 in Lugano, Lisa Lurati trained at the Vevey School of Photography (CEPV) from 2011 to 2015 and at the Institut Kunst in Basel where she graduated in Fine Arts in 2020. Her recents solo shows: In-between things, Gallery Ann Mazzotti, Basel 2022; Raving Cosmo, CACY, Yverdon-les-Bains, 2021; Nebulosa, Gallery Forma, Losanna, 2020; Scherzo. Molto allegro, quasi presto, Photoforum Pasquart, Biel, 2018. » ————— « Lisa Lurati works from a hybrid visual material, indifferently found or produced by the artist and then constantly mixed, manipulated and transformed to create new images of which multiple versions exist. Her strong and singular visual language leaves identifiable the different imageries she appropriates. She belongs to a generation of artists who use photography as the raw material from which they carve a distinctive visual universe, seldom working in separate series with fixed limits. » Danaé Panchaud « Drawing from a broad palette of techniques, ranging from photography, cyanotype and drawing, to sculpture and video, Lisa Lurati’s work manages to occupy a very particular space. A space, where pure aesthetics mingle with the deeply personal, where existential meditations are thrown into the mix with the absurd and trivial, all the while keeping up a deep sense of humility and wonder towards the outside and inside world. Through her work she is keeping meaning and references in a constant state of flux, never quite revealing one single interpretation. Is she examining the relationship between us humans, globalized capitalism, and our effect on planet earth? Is she’s commenting on the absurdity of a little plastic shopping bag, in the face of eternity? Or else, is she just playing around, in the hopes making some sense out of this whole mess? Either way, this ambiguity is what makes her work all the more seductive.
